ReplyDeleteI don't wear a lot of makeup so I only have a very few HG products. The first would be eyeliner. I use MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. I've been using this product for YEARS now. I absolutely love it. My HG blush at the moment is Rock & Republic in Tease. It's the most beautiful colour on my skin. It suits my skintone really well, plus, I got it for about $7! My HG mascara is Diorshow. Although I've tried many other mascaras, I find myself coming back to this one. I honestly don't have an HG lipgloss or lipstick. It ALWAYS changes. My HG lipbalm is by Jack Black, though. It's about $7 and you can find it at Sephora in the men's section. Seriously, it is the BEST lipbalm I have ever tried. And I have tried a lot. My lips are sensitive and tend to peel a lot.
My HG face wash is Purity by Philosophy. I got a sample size and I eventually used it all up and I purchased the $40 one because I loved it so much. It's so gentle and it's a great makeup remover. So less steps for me.
My HG moisturizer is by Cetaphil. It has SPF 15 and it works great.
I also do a mask every week with mung bean starch and water. I found a tutorial on it and how it dramatically changed this one girl's skin. Her face was really... horrible [sounds mean :x] and had acne and everything. And when she used mung bean starch, her skin cleared up so beautifully. Plus, it's really cheap and easily accessible at Asian markets. I found the tutorial on Soompi Forums.

1. Foundation: Bobbi brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation, SPF 15.
This is a really nice foundation. It really does look natural, doesn't feel cakey at all, and you don't even realize that you wear foundation.
2. Eyeshadow: Most of the time mac eyeshadow, with the colour Grain and copperplate. Copperplate is really good for your eyebrow as well.
3. Eyeliner: For upper lashline it's bobbi brown long lasting gel eyeliner, and for waterline, make up forever aqua eyes, the waterproof one! It's lasting for quite a long time, considering that every eyeliner that I use for my waterline lasts only for 3 hours or so.

Hey Rae! So for my HG products, I'm going to go from what I use first to the last thing I use for everyday make up.
ReplyDeleteFirst is Too Faced shadow insurance. I have really oily lids so creasing happens so often.. I need neeed neeeed a primer, even for eyeliner.
Secondly, i absolutely love NYX eyeshadows. I have one runway palette in Champagne and Caviar that I use as a makeshift "UD Naked" palette (because I can't find one anywhere! Otherwise that would be my HG product haha)
Third, I love Stila Stay All Day Waterproof liquid eyeliner! If I used any other type of eyeliner, it would smudge, no matter what formula. This guy stays put even if you don't put a primer!
Fourth, and lastly, Maybelline The Falsies Mascara (waterproof). This was just a spur of the moment purchase, since I had only used L'Oreal Voluminous prior, but now I'm on my 3rd tube! I won't ever never ever change this. I love The falsies.
Videos I would like to see in the future are more reviews. Your reviews are SO thorough that if you endorse a product, I feel confident in your opinion.

ReplyDeleteMy HG product is Philosophy's The Present Clear Makeup. I wear this every time I wear foundation and it makes a nice canvas for the foundation to adhere to and makes it long lasting throughout the day.

ReplyDeleteThough I have not tried out many products, there are some that I don't think I'd ever swap.
I'm a drugstore lover, and I believe that they can be of decent quality compared to department store brands.
One of my HG products is the Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner by L'oreal. It's extremely long lasting and stays put pretty much throughout the day.
Another HG is my L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara (waterproof). It's gotten many mixed reviews but for me, it works amazingly! I had short asian eyelashes and I don't know if it's the mascara, but they've grown longer! It's more dramatic and not too natural, but makes my lashes look like falsies.
I cannot live without my shiseido spf 55 PA+++ cream!!!!!!! I wish they had a jumbo costco sized version of it.

Foundation: Estee Lauder Double Wear (for long workdays), MUFE Mat Velvet+ (for nights out), YSL Teint Resist (for days out), Nars sheer glow (for days of light coverage)
Concealer: MUFE Full Cover (this is the best oil-free concealer I've found)
Bronzer: Nars Laguna (Wonderful for my light complexion)
Blush: Nars Deep Throat (good everyday blusher, alternative to orgasm, which I think has too much gold sparkle)
Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 (This is perfect for both subtle eyes in waterline and more dramatic looks in and above my lash line)
Eyeshadow: Nars cream shadow in Corfu (I don't like spending too much time on eyeshadow. This is perfect for just a thin wash of shimmer w/o creasing)
Mascara: Imju Fiberwig d.j.v beautinizer (I love mascaras with fibers for my stubby lashes! I also love the fact that this washes off with warm water, perfect for my sensitive eyes!)
Highlight: Bare Escentuals all over face color in True (I only use highlighter for nights out. This has large gold sparkles at first glance but they seem to disappear when blended into the face. Best of all, this makes my cheeks gorgeous in photographs.)
Setting Powder: MAC MSF Natural (This is the best non-cakey powder on my skin. My skin is extremely acne-prone and my dermatologist has forced me to swear off anything containing any oils. However I looked at the ingredients in MSF natural and saw jojoba seed oil. Luckily this powder hasn't broken me out! My dermatologist would kill me if she found out I was using it!!)

Some products I can't live without is my Dr. Brant blemishes no more oil-free hydrator and my St.Ives Apricot scrub for skincare. The Dr. Brant moisturizer is great for my combination oily skin because it doesn't make me break out, but keeps my skin moisturized. The St.Ives Apricot scrub is just my favorite face wash! Some makeup products that I consider my HG products are my Eyeko mascara, Maybelline Dream Matte Powder, Revlon Photo Ready Foundation, NYX lipstick in Paris, and Maybelline's 'Pinch o' Pink" powder blush'.

I think in summer my HG will be Bare escentual face primer and foundation powder. It feels soft, smooth, lightweight and natural on my skin ^_^

ReplyDeleteI have quite a bit of products that I would consider my holy grail products. I believe in finding products that work for me and sticking with them because my skin is so picky. Starting with my cleansing routine, I swear by proactive (all 3 steps), followed by the brighter by nature skin care line from origins (serum, moisturizer, and eye cream). Then for my flawless face routine, I love MUFE matte velvet + liquid foundation, MAC MSF natural, lancome hypnose drama mascara and smashbox blush rush in flush. Finally, at the end of the day I could never live without neutrogena's makeup remover wipes (the night calming ones). Thanks for an amazing opportunity! :)

My HG products, regarding to the skincare department, have to be my Burt's Bees Lip Balm and my Lubriderm Lotion. I cannot live without them, especially during winter.
ReplyDeleteMany of my friends do not like the lip balm since it feels minty on the lips. I recommend it to everyone who wouldn't have any problem with that. My lips have improved a lot since I started using the lip palm. They became smoother and stopped cracking and peeling.
I used to use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion; however, it made my skin feel oily. Lubriderm Lotion, on the other hand, is not greasy at all. I can apply it and reapply it throughout the day and never get the oily feeling on my skin. It also gives me a smooth and clear looking skin that makes me feel confident about myself.
I don't really have a HG makeup products beside my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion when I do put on eyeshadow(s). Since my skin tends to get oily, my shadows/liners would run all over the place if I did not use the primer. And with all the work I put on my face, I don't want it to be ruined like that. :)
I like using makeup. It's so fun and you can do so many different things. And I believe that with confidence and a smile, everyone can be beautiful with or without makeup.

My HG productis MAC blacktrack fluidline. It stays on my eyelids and lower lash lines the whole day even though I have really oily eyelid. It is also extremely great as a base for other eye shadows to be put on preventing the eye shadows from creasing.

I have been using this for the last three plus years! its the only eyeliner that lasts alll day (and sometimes the next two days if i get lazy and havent used an oil-based eyemakeup remover) Some people think that the fact that it doesnt come off the in the shower or after washing your face as a bad thing, but I honestly love it! I can even wear it to the gym and it will not budge! :)

ReplyDeleteI would have to say my HG would be eyeliner. I know most girls say eyeliner but I do have to agree with them. On days where I'm lazy or feel like I look a little dead I just put on some eyeliner to look more livelier. I don't have a specific brand I use, I tend to just get whatever comes across for me and what has a good quality and affordable.

For moisturizer, I've just adopted the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel, and it helped me so much to control my oiliness on my T zone :) (However, I still think that I need something more moisturizing for the winter, so if you have any products to recommend me, I'll be trying it !)
I also always use an angled eyeliner brush for gel and liquid eyeliner, and the liquid eyeliner I use is from Une, a biological(?)/ mineral brand. Loving it !

-Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam (A luxurious foam that requires less than a pea size amount to lather nicely. I use this in the AM and PM.)
-St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control (Even though the scrub may be a too harsh for daily usage this is probably the product that cleared my skin from hyperpigmentation.)
-Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion SPF 15 for Sensitive Skin (A basic sunscreen that’s light and effective)
-Carmex (Original) Squeeze Tube (I cannot live without this during the Winter.)
-No 7. Lifting and Firming Foundation SPF 15 in Vanilla (Light foundation with light coverage for a more natural look)
-Maybelline Age Defying Concealer (I am currently on my 4th tube)
-Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Medium (Basic powder that prevents my makeup from fading away)

--I've just picked up Napoleon Perdis's loose eye shadow in #7, which is a pinkish gold. It was on sale as they are changing the packaging. Think this will have to be a new favourite!
In terms of skincare, I've been chopping and changing -- Aspect/Osmosis range from my facialist, SKII (cleansing gel, facial treatment essence, and the repair c serum), Evolu (a NZ local natural range) and Shiseido, along with some supermarket brands.

- Stila "Stay All Day" waterproof liquid eyeliner; Let me just say that my eyelids are stubborn! I've tried liquid eyeliners from Dior, Lancome's artliner (from your recommendation! it was fantastic but my skin's chemistry caused it to be flaky somehow), Vincent Longo, Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, and quiet a few others but Stila is the only one that just doesn't budge. The formula is similar to Lancome's in terms of vibrance and even has a "glossy" effect. MUFE was alright but the brush was so hard that an eyeliner pro like myself got poked in the eye pretty often. I HIGHLY recommend it and this is coming from a person that was raised up on Lancome & department store makeup like your self! =)
- Laura Mercier silk creme foundation, oil free foundation, AND Bobbi Brown liquid foundation; love them all. I tried Laura Mercier foundations per your recommendation and absolutely love them! I use Bobbi Brown during the winter since it is a little on the dewy/oily side which combats my dry winter skin. I feel like BB easily clogs my pores so I can't pull any of this "oh i'll just wash my face in the morning" stuff haha /lazyass
- Nars power foundation & Lancome dual-finish fragrance free; love both! My mom's been using the Lancome dual-finish nearly her whole life but sadly, I didn't care until you recommended it! haha my friends always made me feel like Lancome was a brand for older people so it felt really good seeing someone my age using them, loving them, AND recommending them! thanks!
- Dior concealer; love it for my dark circles, especially during Finals Week!
- Lancome difinicils waterproof & hypnose waterproof;
- Nars lipgloss in Greek Holiday; i had no idea about lips peeling from lip glosses until your videos. how sad is that!? my lips peel occasionally but wow MAC & Nars lipglosses are the worst. I've been dying to try a Chanel one since you said they don't make your lips peel so hopefully one day!

- UD Primer Potion => No creasing!!!!!
- NARS Blushes => I have 6 of them and I really love my DeepThroat it's awesome!!!! (but I'm considering trying ot some blushes from Illamasqua)
- MAC Blot Powder, I have combination skin and I hate shine, so this blot powder helps me keep shine at bay through the day...
- As for lips Carmex lip balm saves me in this winter time...

It makes SUCH a difference- as I have straight lashes that go down and when I curl them, my eyes automatically pop out and open. It' a good trick for ppl with "lazy eye" (hooded eyelid)

2) Burts Bee lip balm. I'm obsessed with this lip balm, I must have one in my purse, next to my nightstand, in my car, make up bag, and att my desk. I just love it! I love to apply it on before my lipstick and throughout the day. I also find it I apply it at night, it doesn't dry out my lips.

When going to a party on weekends i can easily spice things up a bit with my Makeup Store lipstick in the colour Black Orchid.

Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Stress Control 3 in 1 as a chemical exfoliant (thanks to this I can prevent pimples from showing up)
For night creams : Paula's Choice Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum and Paula's Choice skin balancing moisture gel (its the best gel moisturizer texture I've ever came across and its packed with antioxidants too)
My fave lip products are Chanel Rouge Coco in Chintz (thanks to your recommendations :P ) and Organdi Rose. I love the Chanel Hydramax lipbalm too. And I like Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in Expresso

ReplyDeleteI love Stila Kajal for my waterline, it really is the most pigmented eyeliner I have found for my waterline. I have super sensitive skin and it can be temperamental during the change of seasons so for my moisturizer I love Vivite Replenish Hydrating Cream. For concealer which you can also use a foundation if you mix it correctly my HG is Kevyn Aucoin's sensual skin enhancer. For a light moisturizing foundation I use Koh Gen Doh Moisture Foundation. - I have hooded lids therefore eyeshadow easily creases and transfers on my slightly-oily lids.
The UD primer really really REALLY helps to keep everything in place for long hours (especially in my country where the weather is humid). It also makes eyeshadow application really smooth. Love it, can't live without it! XD
[2: THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN E FACE MIST]
- I love this stuff! I use this prior to applying my powdered foundation. It keeps my face moist - giving the dewy look. I also use this mist to foil my pigments for eyeshadow application. When it's really hot during the day, I use two sprays on my entire face and it certainly helps cool me down. Awesome, really.

ReplyDeleteMy Holy Grail items are, honestly, a mix of drugstore and higher end. For my face, when it gets SO dry during the winter, I love to use Ponds Dry Skin cream. It's super cheap, works wonderfully, and doesn't make me break out. I have an Aerie lipgloss in the color "Pout" that I absolutely LOVE because it is the perfect pink, non-sticky gloss that goes with anything. I need a deep conditioner for my color-treated hair (especially during the winter), and my HG one is Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle. I also love Lancome's La Rose Deco blush in Rosy Glow because it gives my cheeks just that! It's super wearable and still keeps my face looking natural with a flush of color. The last HG product I have is the LOreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara, because it makes my short, straight lashes long, volumized, and defined.(:

HI Rae! My holy grail products are the Philosophy Purity cleanser and the Urban Decay Naked palette. I love how the cleanser doesn't dry out my skin while removing all the dirt and makeup off. The UD Naked palette has become my fave because it has all the colors I need for an everyday and night out look. I have totally stop using my other shadows! Thanks for the giveaway!

My HG is definitely my Egyptian Magic Cream. Since Canada's weather is so dry in the winter, it really helps keep my skin moisturized when I sleep. When I wake up, there is no flaky spots and it leaves my face soft and fresh for the days that I wear make-up.

my hg product is Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Makeup for setting my foundation or just my foundation for light days. It keeps the oils on my face to nothing! And now I just realized its not sold on Sephora.com :(
